KYLA SCHNEIDER

I am drawn to the rich history and vibrant potential of encaustic wax. This ancient medium allows me to create abstract and expressionistic paintings that pulsate with movement, dramatic color, and a sense of flow. The molten wax itself becomes a collaborator, its natural drippings and textures echoing the emotions and energy I channel into the work.

My process is an exploration of layering and manipulation. I build up translucent and opaque waxes, layering and fusing them together to create a sense of depth and dynamism. The dramatic color combinations are a signature element, reflecting the intensity of emotions and the beauty of the natural world around me. These natural elements become springboards for exploring the human experience, using the language of abstraction to evoke emotions and ideas.

Ultimately, my paintings are invitations. I strive to capture a sense of movement and flow that draws the viewer in, encouraging them to explore the depths of the work and find their own interpretations. The encaustic itself, with its luminous quality and tactile surfaces, adds another layer of engagement, inviting the viewer to experience the art not just visually, but also viscerally.
